Frequently asked questions

How a number is reserved, how the code shows up, how crypto top-ups land, and how a rental differs from a one-time line. If the question is not here, the support page explains who can open a ticket.

The basics

What is SmsWays?

SmsWays reserves mobile numbers so an app can send its verification SMS somewhere other than your personal phone. You choose the app and the country, the code appears in your account, and you pay in crypto. The catalog covers 1,296 apps in 145 countries, and creating an account does not ask for an ID.

What is a virtual number for SMS verification?

It is a phone number used for a one-time code, so the app never gets your personal mobile. The line sits on a mobile network in the country you choose, the app texts it, and the code appears in your SmsWays account shortly after.

Is it a real mobile number or a VoIP line?

They are mobile numbers on carrier networks, which is why they clear the non-VoIP check many apps run. Some routes are resold lines rather than a SIM in one handset. Each network shows a measured delivery rate so you can see how that route has been behaving before you pay.

Can I use the same number twice?

A one-time number is reserved for one service and one code window of 20 minutes. If you need the same number again later — to log back in or to receive a second code — rent a number for 7, 14 or 30 days instead.

Ordering a number

How do I get a number?

Create an account with an email and a password, add funds in crypto, then pick the app and the country on the activation page. The number appears immediately; paste it into the app and the code shows up in your order a few seconds later.

How long do I have to receive the code?

20 minutes from the moment the number is reserved. Most codes land within the first minute. Open the app's sign-up screen before you buy, so the window is not spent waiting on you.

What happens if the code never arrives?

You are not charged. The price is held on your balance while the number waits, and released back to you automatically when the window closes without an SMS. You can also cancel after 2 minutes if you would rather try another network straight away.

Can I choose the network?

Yes. Once you have picked the app and the country, every available network is listed with its price, its stock and its measured delivery rate. SmsWays pre-selects the best one — enough stock and a proven rate, then the lowest price — and you can switch to any other.

Why does the same app cost more in one country than another?

Prices follow what each mobile network charges for that app in that country, and they change with demand. You always see the exact price before you pay, and the price you see is the price you pay.

What does the delivery rate mean?

It is the share of recent orders on that network where the code actually arrived. Four bars means codes arrive most of the time; one bar means the route works, but less reliably. You are charged only when a code arrives, so a weak rate costs time, not money.

Payments and balance

Which cryptocurrencies do you accept?

Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Tether as USDT on TRON (TRC-20), and Monero (XMR). You add funds to the balance once, then spend it one code or one rental at a time.

Is there a minimum top-up?

Yes, $20. A coin can also have a higher network minimum, and the top-up page says so before you send anything. There is no monthly fee and no subscription.

How long does a top-up take?

The balance is credited when the payment is confirmed on its network. Tether on TRON, Ethereum and Monero are usually a few minutes. Bitcoin typically waits 10 to 30 minutes for a block. The payment page updates on its own.

Do you add fees?

No card fee and no service fee. You pay the network fee of your own wallet when you send the coins, plus the price of the code or the rental. Nothing else is added on top.

Can I get my balance back?

Unused balance is not paid out to a wallet, because a crypto payout would need identity checks we do not run. A charge for a code that never arrived is always returned to the balance automatically. The details are in the refund policy.

Renting a number

What is a rented number?

A number reserved for your account alone for 7, 14 or 30 days. It receives every SMS sent to it, from any app, for the whole term. That is the fit for an account you want to keep, a login that asks for a code again, or a service that verifies twice.

Can a rented number receive SMS from any app?

Yes. A rental is not tied to one service the way a one-time activation is. Every incoming SMS appears in that number’s inbox, with its sender and its time.

What happens when the term ends?

The number goes back to the pool and can be given to someone else later. Extend it before the end date if you want to keep it. Renewal is always your decision. Nothing renews on its own.

Can I make calls or send SMS from a rented number?

No. Rented numbers receive SMS only. There are no outgoing messages and no voice calls. Keep that in mind before you use one for a service that expects to call you.

Privacy and your account

Do I need to verify my identity?

No. There is no ID upload, no selfie, and no phone number of your own to give. An email address and a password are the whole sign-up. Use an address you can open, because that is how a forgotten password is reset.

What do you keep about me?

Your email, a hash of your password, your balance, and your orders with the messages they received. No name, no address, no card. The list is in the privacy policy.

I forgot my password. How do I get back in?

Use Forgot password on the login screen and enter your email. We send a link to choose a new password. The link works once and expires after an hour. If it does not arrive within a few minutes, check spam, then ask for a new link.

Can I delete my account?

Yes, from your account settings. The account and its sign-in are removed. Order records are kept only as long as accounting requires, without anything that identifies you.

Rules

What is SmsWays not for?

Fraud, harassment, impersonation, getting around a ban, and anything illegal where you or the number are. Accounts used that way are closed. The full list is in the acceptable use policy.

Can I resell numbers or use SmsWays for my business?

Yes, for ordinary business uses such as testing your own SMS flows or managing work accounts. For a steady volume, a rented number is usually the better fit.

Still stuck?

Refunds for a missing code are automatic, and a rented number comes with support tickets.
