It has limits. Monero protects what is written on the chain. It cannot erase records kept elsewhere. An exchange still knows what it sent you. If your wallet connects to someone else’s node, that node can see your IP address. Running your own node, or connecting through Tor, narrows that gap.

2. Pick Monero (XMR) and continue. The deposit address is generated for this top-up alone. It is not a standing customer address.
3. Scan or copy. The QR code fills the amount in a wallet that supports it. If you copy the address, compare the first and last characters with the page after pasting. Some malware swaps copied addresses.

• Make sure the exact amount arrives. Wallets usually add the network fee on top. Many exchanges subtract their withdrawal fee from the amount you type, so less arrives than you meant.
• Start a new top-up every time. Do not send to an address from an old request. Each one has its own address and its own time limit.
• Keep the transaction id until the credit shows on the balance.
